Dissertation Title:

Molecular and Cellular Mechanisms of Pain and Itch in the Mammalian Peripheral Nervous System

Rose is currently an HHMI Fellow of the Helen Hay Whitney Foundation at The Scripps Research Institute in La Jolla, CA. In her PhD, she studied how the nervous system responds to mechanical force to generate our sense of touch and pain. In her postdoctoral work, she is working to understand how mechanical forces within the body (for example, due to the movement of blood through the veins and arteries) shape development and function of the renal and cardiovascular systems. In the future, Rose hopes to pursue a career in basic research as an independent investigator.
