Q. What aspects of your MCB degree program best helped you prepare for your career?
A. UC Berkeley's MCB program has profoundly impacted my education and preparedness to embark on my eventual medical training to become a physician. UC Berkeley offered an invaluable experience of being taught by some of the most brilliant professors who are leaders and experts in their respective fields. The opportunity to meet with these professors and let your curiosity drive the conversation was beyond humbling. This brilliance also extends to all of the peers and friends I met throughout my undergraduate experience at UC Berkeley. The academic caliber of this institution prepares you for any journey to come, whether that be further training, such as medical school, or establishing yourself in the workplace. You stand out as a Cal Alumni wherever you go, and the knowledge you have attained at UC Berkeley speaks for itself. I couldn’t have asked for a better program and experience with MCB.
Q. How did you decide on your current career path?
A. I have always wanted to go into medicine because it appealed to everything I sought in a career. It is one of the few professions where you answer a calling to service, continually learn throughout a career as it advances, and directly impact people’s lives with your hands and words. The intellectually stimulating and demanding nature of medicine draws me to this field, and its like no other. Another aspect of medicine is that you can shape your career how you want to. For example, if you're dedicated to academic research and want to advance healthcare, that is an option to pursue. I haven’t found satisfaction or gratification in other careers like I have in medicine.
Q. Share your favorite Berkeley lunch place, coffee shop, landmark study spot...etc.
A. My favorite place to drink my cold brew and read a book was in the grass patch behind VLSB, next to Moffitt's 3rd floor entrance.
