Hear how participation in MCB's IAP has benefited our company partners, students, and postdocs.
Mo Mandegar
VP & Site Head, Discovery Biology at Ascend Gene & Cell Therapies
“I had the pleasure of representing Ascend’s research and innovation team at the MCB Industrial Affiliates Program (IAP). The event was well-organized, and I enjoyed interacting with recent graduates from the molecular and cell biology program at Berkeley. Through the IAP, we were able to recruit a number of great candidates for our research team in the Bay Area. I look forward to working with the IAP as we expand our research team in the future.”
Marian Wong
Principal Recruiter at Calico Life Sciences
“We are privileged to have been part of UC Berkeley's Department of Molecular & Cell Biology's Industrial Affiliates Program. The students' passion and expertise in biology have fostered meaningful networking avenues for present and future Calico positions. Through the program, we've established connections vital for upcoming hiring endeavors. The program's guidance and mentorship ensure students are well-equipped for the transition from academia to industry. We enthusiastically endorse the IAP program to fellow employers."
Cyna Shirazinejad
Biophysics PhD, Biological Data Scientist at Eikon Therapeutics
“IAP was a unique, immersive opportunity to see and understand the breadth of options in industry: stealth start-ups, private companies, and publicly-traded corporations. It was great to connect with people who were already interested in what Berkeley biosciences students were ready to offer, and the spring event was paramount in understanding my fit at differently staged companies. Attending an IAP event during my graduation semester helped me successfully network with attending companies, and also gave me the confidence to engage in informational interviews with other companies through avenues like LinkedIn. Ultimately, my conversations at the event with trailblazers at Eikon Therapeutics led to some reinforcing data points that made the choice to join them easy.
