Q. What aspects of your MCB degree program best helped you prepare for your career?
A. The strong focus on genetics has helped me develop core competencies in my field, and the breadth of technical electives (like BIOENG 131: Introduction to Computational Molecular and Cell Biology) really prepared me for bioinformatics in particular.
Q. How did you decide on your current career path?
A. From a young age, I knew I wanted to pursue a PhD in the sciences. I chose to pursue MCB when I entered Berkeley, and fell in love with computer science partway through earning my degree. Bioinformatics was the perfect union of both fields.
Q. Share your favorite Berkeley lunch place, coffee shop, landmark study spot...etc.
A. Sheng Kee Bakery is always a good spot for sweets!
