In memoriam | Aurora Trapane

By Donald Rio
Professor of Biochemistry, Biophysics, and Structural Biology

Aurora TrapaneIt is with sadness that we let you know that Aurora Trapane recently passed away, after a long battle with cancer. Aurora worked in the former Biochemistry Department for Clint Ballou, then worked for my group in the MCB Department for more than 25 years. After “retiring” from the University, she worked for Barbara Meyer. Aurora trained many of the permanent and on-call glass washers and often scheduled their hours and lab assignments. She did most everything to keep my lab running smoothly and often brought home-cooked food for our lab. Many will also recall that she and several other glasswashing staff organized and hosted the traditional “Koshland Hall” Thanksgiving Lunch, which was so popular that people from other buildings often attended and there was always with plenty of food and beverages. She will be missed and was loved by everyone she interacted with. Our condolences go out to her family.

Memorial services will be held September 7-8, 2022 (details below).
