In an effort to support diversity and a sense of belonging among trainees, we have launched three programs and four trainee teams:

A. Annual Conference: to raise awareness about issues that disproportionately affect underrepresented members of the academic, scientific community and offer training workshops for our faculty in equity, inclusion and diversity
B. Postdoc Teaching Program: to benefit first-year graduate students and ensure that they excel scientifically in their required courses while also providing our postdocs with teaching and community-building opportunities
C. First year- Faculty Mentoring Program: first year graduate students are matched with a faculty member who is dedicated to ensuring that our students feel equip to tackle the challenges of graduate school

We aspire to cultivate an environment where our most vulnerable students feel inspired to bring their most authentic selves to their scientific microcosms. We hope to address the pressures that students from marginalized backgrounds feel to acculturate, and adopt the dominant academic culture.

To achieve these aims we work with students, faculty, postdoctoral scholars, and administrative staff who are passionate about diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) issues and committed to taking action to address them.

iMCB hosts a Research group, Assessment team, Conference team, and Mentoring team who work together to execute the continuous improvement of the iMCB programs.
