Programs and Initiatives

The MGN has several ongoing and new programs that engage students in important conversations surrounding succeeding in graduate school and keeping a healthy outlook during our time here at Berkeley. See the below pages for more information on each program:

  • MGN Mentoring Program: a mentor/mentee network established to welcome first-year graduate students to campus and connect them with older students in our program during meetings throughout the first semester.
  • Wellness Survey: annual survey that gathers information from MCB graduate students on mental, financial, and physical wellness with the goal of improving the grad school experience. The results of this survey are presented annually to the MCB Wellness Committee
  • MCB Wellness Symposium: started in the spring of 2019, students, postdocs, and faculty gathered for a full day seminar to discuss methods of improving personal wellness and how we can focus on improving general wellness in the department.
