Application Notes (please read)

The MARC application is through the Graduate School Application portal. Once you have created an account, there will be a pull-down menu for the program, select Maximizing Access to Research Careers.

APPLICATION MATERIALS

Statement of Purpose:

1. Describe your background and interests. Feel free to discuss relevant extracurricular activities or challenges in your personal or academic background.

2. Describe any relevant work experience in the sciences, research, or as a volunteer. If you have any previous research experience focus on the rationale for the research and the question you were asking.

3. Describe how your participation in the MARC program will assist you in meeting your future professional goals.

4. Name at least three participating faculty whom you would like to work with and explain why their research interests you (https://mcb.berkeley.edu/marc/participating-faculty). If there are any other faculty who conduct biological research that interests you, you can name and discuss them.
