BOOK FEATURE IN PAGEMAKER 6.5

Book is a way to automate the making of PDF files from PageMaker 6.5. This is useful for multi-page PDF documents from mutiple PageMaker documents. The only catch with book is that all of your files must have the same orientation, (i.e. horizontal or vertical). Below are step-by-step instructions on how to use the Book feature.

1. To use the Book feature select it from the Utilites menu.

2. Insert your Pagemaker files into the Booklist. When they are all in the booklist select the OK button.

3. After clicking OK, select File -> Export -> Adobe PDF..., the same as you do for a single page PDF. You will see the dialog box below. If your pages are all the same page size, use the same settings as you would for a single page PDF document. If your pages are different sizes, you must set Paper size(s) to Apply settings of each publication:

**Your pages can be different page sizes but you must select the Apply settings of each publication**

4. The next step in the process for using the book feature is the same as making any other PDF file from PageMaker 6.5. Go to the File menu, select Export and choose Adobe PDF.... Distiller will then make your PDF presentation with all of the PageMaker files you selected under book into one PDF presentation containing all the files. With this method, there is no need to create individual PDF files and then import them into a group PDF presentation.

Once you have your multi-page PDF document, you will need to go back to the Book dialog box and remove the pages that you included in your book. If you forget to do this, your PageMaker document will print out all of the other PageMaker documents when you try and print the one document.
