Normal Histology

Branching glands (G) are irregularly shaped to allow distention of the glands by collecting secretions.

The stroma (arrow) is dense collagen, fibroblasts, and sympathetically innervated smooth muscle that contracts during ejaculation.

Intermediate power view of prostatic glands.

CA refers to prostatic concretions which are calcified glycoprotein masses. They are a normal part of the aging prostate that usually appear after age 60, and are not known to contribute to any prostatic pathology.
