Research
I received my bachelor’s degree in biology from Peking University in China and my Ph.D. in clinical medicine from the University of Oxford in UK. During my Ph.D. in Katja Simon’s lab, I studied how autophagy regulates aging of the mammalian immune system. I discovered that the master autophagy transcription factor TFEB is regulated by polyamines via the translation factor eIF5A. This pathway declines with age and can be harnessed to improve adaptive immune responses in old individuals. In the Dillin lab, I am broadly interested in how cellular proteostasis alters during aging and how tissues coordinate with each other in response to stress.
