Phase II of TeleBears (7/17/14 - 8/17/14): Enrollment is open in both Bio 1A and 1AL.

Adjustment Period (8/18/14 - 9/27/14):

8/18 - 8/27: Enrollment in both 1A and 1AL open.

8/28/14: Simultaneous Enrollment Deadline - must be enrolled in both courses by and after this date if required by major or other requirement.

8/28 - 8/31: Depending on the enrollment status, direct enrollment may be closed and limited to waiting list only.

9/1 - 9/9: Enrollment by Waiting List only - Direct enrollment closed after midnight Friday 8/31.

Attending lab the week of 9/2 - 9/5 is required to be enrolled in Bio 1AL.

9/5: Early Drop Deadline - No drops after midnight Friday Sepember 5th. Enrollment from the waiting list is still possible.

A student enrolled in Biology 1AL is guaranteed to be able to enroll in Biology 1A (as long a discussion section with open seats fits in the student's schedule).

Therefore, a student who desires to be enrolled in both 1A and 1AL should enroll in Biology 1AL as soon as possible during Phase I, and then can enroll in 1A later (although selection of discussion section times may be very limited later). The guarantee for enrollment in 1A is dependant upon the student being able to enroll in an open discussion section seat.

Simultaneous Enrollment Deadling:

Students required to be simultaneously enrolled in both Biology 1A and 1AL must be enrolled in both classes by midnight on Wednesday August 27th and any time later. Students failing to meet this requirement may be dropped from the one class they are enrolled. Students may enroll in the the courses at any time and in any order as long as they are enrolled in both courses by and after the deadline.

It is not sufficient to be enrolled in one class and on the waiting list for the other class unless enrolled in 1AL and having difficulty enrolling in 1A because there are no seats.

Waiting Lists:

Using the waiting lists should be done with some consideration to the way they work in the system. A seat must open in the specific discussion, lab section selected for a student on that waitlist to be enrolled, and the enrollment will only happen when the waiting list is processed by the system which is only on the weekend during Phases 1 and 2 and every night during the Adjustment Period.

The waiting lists are currently closed, and they will only be opened when the course enrollment is almost filled.

When classes begin meeting, students in a particluar waiting list for a section are not enrolled in that section and may not be permitted to attend that section especially for lab sections

Lab and Discussion Section Selection:

It's not necessary in the Fall or Spring to have matching lab and discussion sections. They are considered to be independent from each other. Any lab section for 1AL and any discussion section for 1A may be selected.

The only limitation is that the Tuesday morning and afternoon lab sections conflict with the Tuesday morning or afternoon discussions. Students enrolling in the Tuesday morning or afternoon lab sections must avoid creating a conflict with their enrollment in a Bio 1A discussion section.
