Students who have completed and passed Bio 1A without taking 1AL because of an exemption from simultaneous enrollment by major:
Students in this catergory are not permitted to enroll in the 1AL course directly, and must contact the Enrollment Coordinator at bio1a-enrollment@berkeley.edu to request permission to enroll.
Having used the exemption to take Bio 1A without 1AL, students in this category have very low priority for enrollment in Bio 1AL even in the Summer Sessions. Depending upon the enrollment demand for the course, the probability for enrollment may not be known until the first or second week of the term.

Students who have already passed one or both classes with a C- or better grade (or a PASS) and want to repeat that class for a better grade (or a letter grade):
Students in this catergory are not permitted to enroll in the courses directly, and must contact the Enrollment Coordinator at bio1a-enrollment@berkeley.edu to request permission to enroll.
Students wishing to enroll again to try to get a better grade or to receive a letter grade after receiving a PASS, have a possibility to be enrolled, but they have very low priority for enrollment. All other students who have not passed the class yet have higher priority for enrollment. Depending upon the enrollment demand for the course, the probability for enrollment may not be known until the first or second week of the term.
