Serafin Colmenares

Serafin obtained his Bachelors Degree in Microbiology from the University of Hawaii at Manoa and Ph.D. in Cell Biology from Harvard University where he studied RNAi-mediated transcriptional silencing. His post-doctoral training was with Gary Karpen at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, where he is now currently a Project Scientist.

Serafin's current interests are:  the higher-order structure and spatial organization of heterochromatin and their impact on heterochromatin function, and environmental effects on epigenetic pathways.

He enjoys long walks to the parking lot and cuddling with his laptop.
