MCAT Night
Thinking of going to med school?
Several MCAT prep course programs are invited to this event to give talks about the process of applying to med school and how the MCAT fits into the general scheme of things. Prep courses companies include (subject to change): Princeton Review, Kaplan, Columbia, and Berkeley Review. A student speaker who has been through it all will also offer tips on self-studying. As an added bonus: some of the companies will hold drawings to win a FREE MCAT prep course!
GRE Night
Similar to MCAT Night, this event is designed to provide insight for students thinking of graduate school. Expect visits from a variety of different test preparation companies including Kaplan and Princeton Review.
Research Night
Want to find out about current research done by your fellow MCB peers? How to start your own research? Thinking of presenting your own research topic in front of other students and the Berkeley faculty? Come and check out what MCB undergraduates are doing in their labs!
Course Advising Night
We know you have questions! What are some interesting and easy classes to take for an MCB elective? Who are the killer professors in the MCB department? Can I take MCB 100 concurrently with Chem 130A? Is taking three science classes in one semester insane? Get all your questions answered at the MCB Course Advising Night! This is the opportunity to listen to and chat with a panel of upper division MCB students about classes, professors, being premed, double majors, minors, and much much more! See how other MCB students balance school work, volunteer at hospitals, work at research labs, study for MCATs, and still have a life!
Faculty/Student Dinners & Reception
Here's the chance you've been waiting for to meet dozens of those famous MCB faculty members! This annual event kicks off with a series of speeches from an informative panel of biology professors, MCB advisors, and MCB graduates. In the past the professors have talked about their experiences with undergraduates and as undergraduates. The MCB UAO advisors then put in their quick plug about getting help from the UAO before MCB grads, ranging from medical doctors to researchers, take the stage, talking about their undergraduate experiences and giving tips for the future! After that, the real fun will begin! You will get to meet the faculty, find out about their current research, hear about classes they have taught, and learn a little bit about their interests and hobbies, all while munching on a FREE light dinner and overlooking a great view of the campus!
Interview Night
At the Interview Night event, speakers who are applying to graduate schools will share their interview experiences with other undergraduates.
Some issues that the speakers will address:
1) What they did to prepare for the interview.
2) How they dealt with some "tricky" questions that they were asked.
3) How they established a rapport with the interviewer(s).
And many more!
After about a five minute speech to the group from each speaker, we will break into smaller groups according to people's field of interest, i.e. optometry, medicine, dentistry. That way, students can get their specific questions addressed.
Career Fair
Every year, cDNA co-sponsors several events in the Career fair. Speak to representatives from different graduate schools and companies from around the country. Are you ready to graduate?
Biotechnology Company Tours
There are hundreds of biotech companies in the bay area! Are you curious about what it looks like inside one of them? Sign up to take a guided tour of companies such as Bayer, Genentech, and Chiron. Find out about their employment opportunities and their summer internship programs!
MCB Students General Association Meeting
Do you want to find out more about the events that we hold and meet the people behind the scenes that make it all happen? Then come to our general meeting! We are a highly organized group of undergraduates that have become actively involved in helping MCB students here at Berkeley. At the general meeting, we will talk in depth about how you can participate in our activities and join the club. Our sister club, mcbUSA, will also be there showing off their programs. Come join us for an informative evening and listen to what these clubs can do for you and what you can do for MCB!
Year End Banquet
Want to find out how MCBers celebrate a year of coordinating successful events? Be part of the Executive Committee (ExComm), help out at our events, and join us for an evening of recognition and lots of good food!
