GSI Appointment Application 2008-2009

For a list of courses for which we will be hiring GSIs please see: Projected GSI Needs for 2008-2009 (PDF).  Note that the number of GSIs required for a course may change based on enrollments.  Such changes may result in a change in your appointment to another course.

All GSI appointments are 50% time appointments that include partial fee offsets. (GSI appointments do not include offsets for any non-resident tuition). For more information about fee remissions see:  http://www.grad.berkeley.edu/policies/pdf/fee_remission_bulletin.pdf.

Applicants must meet all Graduate Division requirements for the GSI appointment including being a registered graduate student with a minimum GPA of 3.1 and no more than two incompletes. If assigned to teach a course, your appointments are August 1 to December 31 for Fall and January 1 to May 31 for Spring.   You are required to attend Fall Orientation for the department and Graduate Division, attend all lectures and lab/discussion sections for your assigned course, hold office hours as required and be present through the grading of final exams.  We require 30 days notice if you will not be able to fulfill your assignment so that we can make other arrangements to cover the course duties. Many laboratory courses, including but not limited to Bio1A, require the use and dissection of animal subjects purchased for the purpose of instruction.
