Structure of the human Ndc80 kinetochore complex around microtubules.

The conserved Ndc80 kinetochore complex is an essential component of the outer kinetochore and a major site of interaction with spindle microtubules. The image is a side view of the cryo-EM structure of a microtubule bound by Ndc80 complexes. The crystallographic structures of tubulin and the Ndc80 microtubule-binding heads has been docked into the density to obtain a pseudo-atomic model of the interaction. Work by the Nogales lab.
