Announcements:

11/17/09   All updated PDFs for the GI lectures are now on this site (through "Gastrointestinal" tab, above).  A time and room will be announced soon for Dr. Crothers' office hours during the week of the Thanksgiving holiday.

9/21/09   The Reader for lectures 10-26 is available at Copy Central, 48 Shattuck Square (at University), for about $20.  (Copy Central has other locations around campus where this reader is not available.) 

8/27/09   The bSpace site for this course is now available.  Registered students have automatic access, but the site can also be joined by any who have CalNet ID.  The bSpace site requires Firefox 1.5 (or newer) or IE 6 (or newer) for full functionality, though other browsers may work for more limited functions.  Check the Announcements and Resources tabs regularly.  This MCB site uses more basic HTML, so it functions with almost any browser (including those that work on "Classic Macs"), and is accessible without log-in.  We will try to duplicate important announcements on both sites, but most supportive instructional materials will be put on bSpace. 

8/26/09   ASUC Lecture Notes will offer a subscription to notes for this course, available on line (at notes.berkeley.edu) the day after each lecture.  Although instructors will generally provide a lecture outline and/or a lecture slide set, usually on bSpace, these are often meant as a framework for students to use for reviewing what they have heard in lecture and do not necessarily cover all of the instructor's verbal remarks.  For those who feel that their own note-taking falls short, or who prefer to concentrate on watching and listening during lectures, the ASUC Notes may be an attractive option.  (ASUC Notes can only cover its operating expenses and continue to offer this service if students individually pay for their own subscriptions and don't pass copies around.)

Human Physiology, 5^th ed. — Dee Silverthorn
 

A Course Reader (soft-bound, ~400 pages) for lectures 10-26 should be available early in the fall semester at Copy Central, 48 Shattuck Square, for about $20.  It will follow those lectures more closely than the main textbook and take a more quantitative approach to the topics.
