Fertilization:
Location: usually the ampulla of the oviduct (fallopian tube/uterine tube)
- Fertilization can take place in any part of the tube, and even in the abdominal cavity, but not in the uterus.

Notes:
Location of implantation: outside uterus = ectopic pregnancy
Leads to abortion in most cases, and is often a life-threatening, surgical emergency for the mother.
